Milbert's Tortoiseshell Resin Earrings -- Aglais milberti
This wonderful butterfly overwinters as an adult, not a chrysalis.
Multiple generations across the Pacific Northwest with adults staying in higher elevations during the heat of the summer, coming back to the valleys as temperatures drop below 75F or so during the day.
Feeding solely on stinging nettle, larvae are gregarious in early stages and form nets around stinging nettle plants. Eggs are laid in batched of 50-100 under a leaf.
- Whole butterfly only. If just forewing or hindwing is preferred, let us know :)
- Wings have a gorgeous epoxy resin finish on each side.
- Very lightweight.
- For earrings, choose .925 Sterling Silver or hypoallergenic niobium earwires. Niobium is less shiny and contains no nickel. See picture.
