A common butterfly in spring and early summer west of the Rocky Mountains.  This butterfly spends most of its time along mountain stream corridors near the caterpillar hostplants, such as willow, cottonwood, and aspen.   

We have reared small broods of this species, and plan to begin breeding in larger numbers in 2021.
